Matthew and Bridget Tobin, Owners
Matt Tobin, owner of Tea Lane Nursery was born on Martha’s Vineyard and has lived here for over 60 years. Along with his wife, Bridget, Matt has a true passion for preserving the rustic, natural beauty of Martha’s Vineyard through pioneering the use of organic landscaping practices on the Island since he purchased the company in 1977. Matt is a graduate of the Massachusetts Green School, and is a Massachusetts Certified Nurseryman.

Dave Hill, General Manager and Landscape Designer
Dave Hill has been landscaping professionally since 1981 and specializes in developing personalized and unique, custom landscapes using organic methods for his clients. Dave received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Studies from Stockton State College, and an additional degree in Certified Landscape Design from George Washington University. His professional experience began as foreman of the Club House Ground for a prominent Southern New Jersey golf club, maintaining the turf and plantings. Dave has designed and constructed landscapes since 1987 and has lived on Martha’s Vineyard since 1992.
A specialty in designing unique, custom landscapes using organic methods.
Avril Espy, Lawn & Garden Maintenance Division Manager
Avril Espy joined Tea Lane Nursery as its Lawn & Garden Maintenance Division Manager in 2013. She received her undergraduate degree in Art History and French from William Smith College. Once she discovered the creativity and joy of working in gardens and being around plants, plans of teaching changed to a career in landscaping. Prior to joining TLN, she spent 13 years in the landscaping field gardening and leading crews for other Island companies. Interested in expanding her knowledge and sense of landscape design, Avril pursued and received her Certificate of Landscape Design from the Landscape Institute at Boston Architectural College in 2015.
A passion for the creativity of landscape design, and the joy of working in gardens.
